ビリー･コーガン：ソロアルバム発売決定
元 SMASHING PUMPKINS / ZWAN のフロントマンである ビリー･コーガン がソロアルバムを完成させたようです。billycorgan.com にある 9月22日付けの本人からのメッセージにこのように書かれています。
I am happy to report that my album is finished, and we are now in the mixing stage for next 3 weeks...as of right now we are set to release in the spring...spring seems a long way away sitting here now, but time flies when you are me so it shouldn't be that long... i am very excited about the album and feel i have created something relatively fresh and vibrant and exciting to my ears...i know that i like it, and that makes me smile...one mix down, about 14 or 15 to go!!!「アルバムのレコーディングが終わったぜ。これから 3週間ミキシングをして、来年の春にリリースできるはずだよ。まだまだ先じゃねーかって思うだろうけど、おれに言わせれば春なんてあっという間だよ。このアルバムにはいままでにない感じのヴァイブがあってとても気に入っているよ。自分の好きなようにやれたからうれしいよ。」

SMASHING PUMPKINS の代表曲と B サイドの楽曲をコンパイルした 2枚組ベスト 「Rotten Apples,The Smashing Pumpkins Greatest Hits」 (写真) や ZWAN 唯一のアルバム 「Mary Star of the Sea」 を聴きながらあと半年間じっくりを待ちましょう。
また、ビリーは 10月1日に詩集 「Blinking with Fists」 も発売して アメリカでサイン会ツアー を行うようです。ほかにも小説も書き始めているという情報もありますね。
スマパンのデモやライブテイクなどのレア音源がファンサイト billy-corgan.com からダウンロードできるので、興味を持った方はチェックしてみてください。2000年にフリーダウンロードで発表された 6枚目のアルバム (アウトテイク集) 「Machina II - the friends and enemies of modern music」 もダウンロードできます。というかビリーがドット絵になった超有名ゲームのパロディ版のゲームロムもあったりするけど、これってアレ的にヤバイよね。
